Offender levies

An offender levy is an administrative fee that helps pay for the cost of law enforcement and administration.

This levy is applied to any offender (other than a child) sentenced in a supreme, district or magistrates court, whether or not a conviction is recorded.

You can't appeal the levy.

The current offender levy rates are:

  • $356.40 for sentences imposed by a supreme court or district court
  • $118.80 for sentences imposed by a magistrates court.

You can pay the levy on the day it is applied in court. Otherwise, the court will register the levy with us. We will send you an enforcement order with instructions on how to pay.
